Description
Amira Kids Frill Abaya for Girls: A Tiered A-Line Frock Abaya She Will Actually Want To Wear
Most abayas made for children are a straight, plain cut that a child grows tired of quickly. The Amira is a kids frill abaya built the opposite way: a fitted bodice flows into graduated frill tiers, so it moves with her instead of hanging flat. It reads as a party frock and still gives full modest coverage, which is exactly why it works for Eid and for a normal school day. Cut in five age-based sizes for girls from 5 to 14 years.
It is made in premium Nida fabric, the soft matte weave we use across our collection. Nida is opaque, light on the skin, drapes straight without clinging and barely creases through a full day out. For a child that matters twice over: it survives being sat in, played in and washed often.
Why A Tiered Frock Abaya Instead Of A Plain One
A tiered abaya takes its shape from layers of gathered fabric rather than a stiff cut, so it flares as she walks and never looks starched. The graduated tiers give the flow of a frock abaya without the weight of a heavy gown, and the A-line fall keeps it loose everywhere a growing child needs room. It is the closest thing to a party dress that is still a proper abaya.

Which Size For Her Age? Sizing From 5 To 14 Years
Measure your daughter rather than guessing from her uniform size. Chest decides the fit; length only needs to reach the ankle. These are final garment measurements and already include wearing room.
| Size | Age | Chest (in) | Waist (in) | Length (in) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5-6 Years | 5 and 6 year olds | 26 | 23 | 38 |
| 7-8 Years | 7 and 8 year olds | 28 | 25 | 40 |
| 9-10 Years | 9 and 10 year olds | 30 | 26 | 42 |
| 11-12 Years | 11 and 12 year olds | 32 | 28 | 44 |
| 13-14 Years | 13 and 14 year olds | 34 | 30 | 46 |
Buying an abaya for a 6 year old girl or a 5 year old, take the 5-6 Years size: 26 inch chest and 38 inch length. For a 7 or 8 year old, the 7-8 Years size at 28 inch chest and 40 inch length. An abaya for a 10 year old girl is the 9-10 Years size, 30 inch chest and 42 inch length, and this is the size parents order most often. For a 12 year old girl take 11-12 Years, and for a 13 or 14 year old the 13-14 Years size at 34 inch chest and 46 inch length.
If her chest falls between two sizes, take the larger one. A kids abaya is meant to hang loose, and the extra room buys you another season of wear. Girls above 14 or outside the chart are covered by our made-to-order sizing further down this page.
18 Colours, Including The Ones Parents Ask For First
A black abaya for girls is still the most requested shade because it goes with every hijab and hides a school day, and maroon is the one that sells out around Eid. Beyond those two the Amira comes in beige, bottle green, coffee brown, French blue, grey, grey olive, jade green, mustard, navy blue, olive green, puce pink, silver, teal green, violet, white and wine.
Deep shades such as black, navy blue, wine and bottle green are the practical everyday picks. Lighter shades like beige, silver, white and puce pink photograph beautifully for Eid and family functions but need a little more care in the wash.
How To Style It
Pair it with a hijab in a matching or contrasting shade and simple flats or sandals. The frill tiers do the work, so keep the rest plain.
Care Instructions
- Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent; wash dark and bright shades separately for the first two or three washes
- Do not bleach and do not dry clean
- Do not wring. Press the water out gently and hang to dry in shade, since direct sun fades maroon, wine and navy blue
- Iron on medium heat or steam, inside out
- Hang on a wide hanger rather than folding, so the tiers do not crease

Questions Parents Ask Before Ordering
What age is this abaya for?
Girls from 5 to 14 years, in five two-year age bands cut loose for growing room. Sizes outside that range are made to order.
Which size should I order for a 10 year old?
The 9-10 Years size, 30 inch chest and 42 inch length. If she is broader or taller than average for her age, go up to 11-12 Years.
Is this suitable for daily wear?
Yes. Nida barely creases and washes easily, so a dark shade works for daily school and madrasa wear as well as for occasions.
Is it a burqa or an abaya?
The same garment. Abaya is the common term in the Gulf, burqa in South Asia, and both describe this full-length outer dress.
Will the frills fade or flatten after washing?
No, provided you hand wash in cold water and hang it to dry in shade on a wide hanger rather than folding it.
